The Small Things

Written by Enda Walsh and Directed by Robert Elwood, it is a moving play in which silence blankets the characters' world after a traumatic event. In two separate but connected houses, a man and a woman fight to keep memories alive by talking about small things. Through their conversations, they find connection, courage, and hope.

As Movement Director, I worked on awakening and exploring the senses and how the act of memory is embodied. We worked based on observation exercises and embraced abrupt changes in rhythms during the show to express the shift in age in their stories. I used the Laban and Michael Chekhov techniques. This show was the final show of the MA Directing course at LAMDA, with a short season at Orange Tree Theatre in summer 2023.
